BYD’s 100% electric sport coupe Seal arrives at the brand’s dealerships selling for R$ 296.8 thousand in a single version equipped with sunroof and front-door laminated glass windows.
According to the manufacturer, the car’s major differential is the Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology integrating the batteries in the body structure for more rigidity and safety.
The new coupe was presented Wednesday, 8/30, in São Paulo.
The Seal’s batteries can be charged from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes, providing 300 km autonomy. Charged 100%, the new BYD range is up to 372 km, according to Inmetro’s Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program. The autonomy reaches 520 km in the urban cycle, according to WLTP.
Developed by BYD, the Blade battery is appointed as fundamental to provide high energy efficiency, stability and safety.
Like the Dolphin, the brand’s electric compact recently launched, costing about R$ 150 thousand, the Seal follows the Ocean Aesthetics design language that marks the new generation of BYD vehicles.
At the event were Alexandre Baldy, BYD’s board chairman, Henriques Antunes, commercial director, and Pablo Toledo, marketing director. They emphasized the Seal’s electric powertrain with two motors totaling 531 cv. The car reaches 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
Internally, the driver seat is electrically adjustable in eight positions and has a lumbar support that is also adjustable in four positions to reduce fatigue on long trips. The steering wheel can be adjusted in four positions.
