BMW Group’s plant in Manaus, AM, the brand’s only one exclusively focused on motorcycle production out of Germany, will receive a R$ 50 million investment to increase its capacity and expand the portfolio for the Brazilian market. With the amount to be used from 2022 through 2025, the production will be expanded by 25%, from the current 15 thousand yearly units to 19 thousand.

The project should also expand the direct workforce by 20% and the plant working area by 50%, as well as launch seven new models up to the end of 2025. Currently are produced in Manaus the models R 1250 GS Adventure, R 1250 GS, S 1000 RR, G 310 GS, G 310 R, F 750 GS, F 850 GS Adventure and F 850.

“The R$ 50 million investment confirms the success of our bet in Brazil, where we established the first BMW Motorrad plant to produce motorcycles out of Germany”, said Jefferson Dias, general director of the Manaus plant.

BMW is taking advantage of a favorable moment for the Brazilian motorcycle segment, which currently shows a demand higher than the offer. Julian Mallea, BMW Motorrad’s CEO, recalls the Brazilian market is the world’s sixth larger for the company:

“The Manaus plant is responsible for 99% of the brand volume in Brazil. Of the seven new models we will produce locally, four are completely new, and one will be launched this year. This investment will strengthen our national leadership in the premium motorcycle segment”.
