Imported from Mexico, Nissan's medium sedan will challenge the champion Toyota Corolla

Nissan has confirmed the arrival of the new generation of the Sentra in Brazil at the end of March. Imported from Mexico, the model was fully refurbished and should please consumers looking for a sportier design sedan.
Built on the CMF-C platform, Nissan’s next representative mission in the country is the difficult task of stealing Toyota Corolla’s customers. The competitor sold more than 75% of medium sedans commercialized in Brazil in 2022.
The remaining 25% were shared by the Chevrolet Cruze, with 15%, and a dozen other models with the other 10%.
Nonetheless, the new Sentra may already become Nissan’s second best-selling model in Brazil in 2023. The brand’s lineup is small, including only the national Kicks SUV, the Argentinian Frontier pickup, the electric Leaf and the Versa compact sedan, also imported from Mexico.
Last year, the brand sold 53.7 thousand automobiles and light commercial vehicles in the country. The Kicks had 39 thousand deliveries, 73% of the total, followed by the Frontier, with 8.7 thousand units. The versa sold only 5.6 thousand units, a monthly average of under 500 units.
With the new product, Nissan expects at least to keep among the ten best-selling brands in the country. With a 2.7% share in automobiles and light commercial vehicles, it achieved just 9th place in 2022.
The manufacturer’s market share of about 3% has been almost constant over the last years, despite its management declarations promising to make the brand one of the leaders in Brazil and the region.
