Contrasting to last year’s performance, when the autoparts industry commercial balance registered a growing deficit, this year’s imports of automotive components from 149 different origins indicate a deceleration.

A balance released by Sindipeças based on data from the Development, Industry, Commerce and Services Ministry reveals the purchase of US$ 6.3 billion from abroad in the first four months of the year, a 0.6% decrease compared to 2022.

Exports reached US$ 2.9 billion for 183 markets, a 22.7% growth over the last year.

With these figures, the autoparts commercial balance deficit was US$ 3.4 billion, 14.4% less than last year’s first four months (US$ 3.96 billion). According to Sindipeças, the figures until April confirm the trend since last December, with exports performance proportionally getting better than imports.

In April, auto parts exports reached US$ 741.5 million, a 7% fall compared to March, reflecting fewer working days in the month. Argentina was the largest purchaser this year (36%), followed by the United States (15.5%) and Mexico (9.5%).
The major imports until April came from China (15.1%), the USA (12.1%) and Germany (10.6%).
