The president of Anfavea, Márcio de Lima Leite, announced during the seminary about electrification this week that the annual meeting of the powerful International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers – OICA – will happen in Brazil.

The event will be held in São Paulo, on October 26 and 27, in a local to be defined. John Bozzela, president of the organization that represents automotive associations from 37 countries, including great manufacturing centers such as Europe, Americas and Asia, participated online in the opening of Anfavea’s event.

At the occasion, talking about the ongoing decarbonization actions worldwide, he said that what really matters is a clean future. “We don’t think that all countries should adopt the same technology”, he said, admitting that there are different ways to take, according to specific regional or local policies and characteristics.

For OICA’s president, it is fundamental to have global cooperation involving industry and governments to disseminate the best practices benefitting the environment worldwide.

Following the same line, Anfavea’s president emphasized at the seminary’s opening about electrification in Brazil that “each manufacturer has its technology. The important is the development of the country”.

Besides gathering the sector’s global statistics, OICA works for technical development in different areas, “aiming the global harmonization of environmental and safety standards to benefit all countries”, according to the organization’s website.

Bozzella is president of the USA Alliance for Automotive Innovation and became OICA’s leader in 2021, replacing the Chinese Fu Binfeng. Reducing automobile and automotive plants’ emissions worldwide is currently the organization’s main focus.
