Vehicle rentals can join as this Wednesday, 6/21, the discount program for cars up to R$ 120 thousand promoted by the federal government.

One month without buying models from this price range, initially due to expectations about the incentive package and after because of the 15 days benefits reserve only for individual consumers, the rental companies preview purchases immediately when liberated to enjoy lower prices.

Paulo Miguel Jr., Manager Councillor of Abla (Associação Brasileira das Locadoras de Automóveis), admits the program for automobiles should end as soon the benefits are opened for the sector companies and other legal persons.

The discounts should last up to four months but, already at the government program start on June 6, Anfavea said it should end in about one month, considering the amount of discounts offered and the sales restraint before it.

At the occasion, Márcio de Lima Leite, Anfavea’s president, estimated the sale of 110 thousand units to be reached by next week, according to Abla’s. “Rentals purchase about 35 thousand cars a month, and we have a dammed need of about 70 thousand cars priced up to R$ 120 thousand. We were buying only vehicles above this price”, said Miguel Jr.

Last week, vice-president and the Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, assured the incentive package should not be extended.

On Monday, 6/19, the Ministry issued a balance informing it had already liberated about R$ 320 million for the manufacturers, 64% of the R$ 500 million previewed by the government measure. With the weekend sales, the liberation grew by 88% in three days.

This Tuesday, according to the G1 portal, Alckmin admitted the end of the incentive program for car sales is not yet defined. “He evaluated the measure as a success, and the price reduction stimulated sales”, revealed G1’s story after an interview at the end of a National Industry Confederation (CNI).
