Launched in the Brazilian market at the beginning of July, the GR Corolla is the main attraction of Toyota Gazoo Racing – the Japanese manufacturer’s sports division – at the Festival Interlagos Carros 2023 that opened to the public this Friday, 7/21.
The promoters expect to reach 10 thousand test drives in the three days of the event in the Autódromo de Interlagos, in São Paulo. In 65 years of history in Brazil, this is the first time Toyota has launched a hatchback with 100% sporty appeal in the country.
Besides the GR Corolla, the brand also exhibits the Corolla Cross GR Sport, Corolla Sedan GR Sport, SW4 GR Sport, Hilux GR Sport and the Corolla used in Stock Car competitions.
The just-launched sporty hatch has a six-speed manual gearbox and a 1.6 turbo three-cylinder engine with 304 cv and 37.7 kgfm torque. It is the same G16E-GTS turbocharged engine used in the GR Yaris, with improvements to increase power. Its six-speed manual transmission provides an exciting drive experience, while the GR-FOUR system ensures efficient four-wheel-drive traction in any road condition.
