Facing a growing demand, the Brazilian motorcycle industry increased production in August. 164,008 units were manufactured by the plants located at the PIM (Manaus Industrial Pole), 12.4% more than in July (145,852) and 33.4% over the same month last year (122,923).

The figures were released this Wednesday, 9/13, by Abraciclo, the Brazilian motorcycle manufacturers association. It was the best month since 2012 and the best year-to-date result in 11 years. From January through August, 1,051,422 motorcycles were produced, a 14% increase over 2022 (921,921 units).

“These numbers correspond to our estimate and point toward a constant and consolidated growth of the motorcycle industry. Nevertheless, we keep aware of the national and international macro-economy scenario”, said Marcos Bento, Abraciclo’s president.

The association maintains its forecast of 1,560,000 motorcycles produced by the end of 2023, 10.4% more than in 2022. The dealers sold 142,770 motorcycles in August, 20.4% more than last year and a 16% increase over July.
It was the best monthly result since 2011 when 181,539 motorcycles were sold in Brazil.

Exports

Manaus motorcycle manufacturers exported 3,443 units last month, 55.9% less than in July 2022 (7,807) and 8.4% more than in July (3,176). The United States was the main market, with 1,020 motorbikes shipped, trailed by Colombia (932) and Argentina (524).

Year-to-date, exports by Abraciclo members totaled 27,152 units, a 28.3% fall compared to 2022 (37,884). Abraciclo forecasts that 49 thousand units should be exported this year, 11.5% less than in 2022.
