Renault announced this Wednesday, 10/25, its strategic plan for markets outside Europe for 2023-2027, which includes launching eight new models and a € 3 billion investment.

The first new model is the Kardian SUV, presented at the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro. At the event, the company revealed details of its “International Game Plan 2027”, aligned with the Renaulution plan.

The investment of nearly R$ 16 billion out of Europe aims not only to develop new products but also to manufacturing improvements in the regions where Renault has plants: Latin America, North Africa, Turkey, India and China.

€ 300 million of the total € 3 billion investments were used in the new C-segment SUV and are part of the R$ 2,2 billion investment announced last year by Renault in Brazil.

Five of the eight new models will be from C and D segments. The new products also include hybrid versions, including one flex-fuel vehicle, according to Luiz Fernando Pedrucci, Renault Latin America’s president.

To provide more consumption and CO2 emissions efficiency, the new powertrains will include models driven by internal combustion engines, flex-fuel (E85), GLP, 48 V mild hybrid and full-hybrid, front-wheel drive or 4×4.

At the event, Fabrice Cambolive, Renault’s world CEO, emphasized Brazil’s importance for the company and revealed the brand’s intention to sell one hybrid or electric model for each of three vehicles sold out of Europe by 2027:

“Now that our products renovation is giving fruits in Europe, we will make our brand more global and profitable.  Renault is intensifying its international markets offensive by launching eight new vehicles until 2027, based on a few platforms shared among the different regions to improve our synergies”.

Besides the CMF architecture for Latin America, North Africa, Turkey and India, the company developed the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform for segments D and E in South Korea, in partnership with Geely.

The CMF flexibility is shown by the numbers released by Renault: vehicle length from 4 to 5 meters, four different wheelbases from 2.60 m to 3 m, and rear modules with three different lengths.

“This platform’s flexibility will enable to offer the customers very different bodies and silhouettes”, commented Fabrice, revealing the Niagara concept pickup made on the same platform as the Kardian.

The model has the new eTech hybrid 4×4 drive, indicating that the CMF platform also has an electric and electronic architecture meeting all current and near-future rules.
