Despite the persistence of the supplying crisis, Anfavea foresees a less troubling activity pace in the next months

For the first time after 18 months, no register of activity interruption in the plants happened due to the lack of components, especially semiconductors. Therefore, truck production grew 35.4% in August to a total of 17.2 thousand units, compared to 12.7 thousand in July.
Compared to last year’s August, when the industry produced 14.9 thousand trucks, the result was positive, with a 15.1% growth.
According to Anfavea, despite the significant pace acceleration at the plants, there still persists a risk of a parts and components shortage.
“From now on, the activities tend to be more normal, but the difficulties are not overcome”, said Marco Saltini, vice-president of the manufacturer’s association, during the presentation of the automotive sector results this Friday, 9/9.
According to him, the plants could operate in August without halts due to the logistic teams’ efforts, “despite momentary stops at the production lines to wait for some component”.
With the August volume, truck production over the first eight months of the year accumulated 101.7 thousand units, still 2.6% lower than in the same period last year. “This is nothing to worry about. It is worth remembering that the production volumes were very low at the beginning of the year”, said the executive.
