More than 200 businessmen and executives from Brazil and Argentina joined this Tuesday, 5/16, the 20th Toyota Latin America and Caribbean (TLAC) Suppliers Conference at the company’s Technological Park near its plant in Sorocaba, SP.
Mirgor, from Argentina, was awarded the Regional Contribution prize based on criteria such as safety, quality, sustainability, parts delivery, costa and operations management and the application of the Toyota Production System.
Adient, from Brazil, and Toyota Boshoku, from Argentina, responsible for delivering seats in both countries, were named Suppliers of the Year.
The Exceptional Supplier prize was attributed to the Brazilin companies Mueller, Eberspaecher, Denso, Kanjiko, Kayaba, Yazaki, G-KTB, Hitachi and Vutec, and the Argentinians Indústrias Cordero, Testori, Stilo and Guidi. Usiminas was granted the Special Acknowledgement prize for its performance in 2022.
During the meeting, Toyota executives shared the annual strategy with the suppliers, presenting the company’s new perspectives and the new motto for Toyota Global’s management, now commanded by Koji Sato: “Heritage and Evolution”.
Masahiro Inoue, Toyota Latin America and Caribbean’s CEO, Toyota do Brasil’s president, Rafael Chang, and Toyota Argentina’s president, Gustavo Salinas, participate in the ceremony.
Toyota’s CEO revealed the manufacturer’s aim to expand production in the region by 5% to 400 thousand vehicles and break the sales record with 500 thousand deliveries, also a 5% growth.
According to him, since the launch of the hybrid Corolla Cross made in Sorocaba, the brand’s sales have been growing in Latin America’s 40 countries.
“We believe the company plays an important role in the two countries it operates, and, with these awards, we aim to boost sustainable growth and increase the competitiveness of the regional supply chain, always alert to our commitment to safety, quality, competitiveness and sustainability”.
