Antônio Megale, Anfavea’s former president, passed away last Friday, 10/13. In an official note, the association declared:
“It would not be an overstatement to call Antônio Megale the father of the Rota 2030. Nobody in the national automotive sector fought more than him for implementing this industrial policy, key for the previsibility and the technological advance of national vehicles in various aspects”.
Born in Minas Gerais and graduated by the UFRJ as a mechanical engineer, Megale worked for Chrysler, Renault and was Volkswagen do Brasil’s director of government affairs.
He also was president of AEA (Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Automotiva) for two consecutive terms (2011 through 2014) and vice president of Fiesp (2017 through 2021). In July 2022, after almost four decades working for the national automotive sector, he announced his retirement from all professional activities.
Megale presided Anfavea from 2016 through 2019. In July 2018, the Rota 2030 was officially announced to be instituted in October of the same year. “It was possible because Megale was able to assemble two great talents: he was a born negotiator and a technical expert”, says the vehicle manufacturers note.
