“The supply crisis has cooled down a bit and no longer hinders the customer from finding the desired model, except in punctual cases. The numbers reflect this scenario”. With this comment, Fenabrave’s president, José Maurício Andreta Jr., summarized the growth of automobile and light commercial vehicles in August, referring in special to the lack of semiconductors affecting the sector worldwide since last year.

On the executive evaluation, the good results of the month show that the market is reaching a balance between offer and demand:

“Despite the two additional working days we had in August, all segments grew, which shows a clear trend toward a recovery of the market. One of the greatest challenges faced in the last months, the scarcity of parts and components is no longer so limiting for the sector as at the beginning of the year.”

According to data released by the association this Friday, 9/2, light vehicle sales reached 194,142 units, 14.8% more than the 169,088 commercialized in July.

That was the segment that grew most in the month. Truck sales, for instance, grew 8.6% to 12.3 units. Considering lights and heavy models, the sector registered 208,499 vehicles, a 14.6% growth in the same comparison.

Regarding August 2021, with 172,763 registers, the total sale of vehicles grew 20.7%. Nonetheless, the sector still registers an 8% fall in the first eight months of the year. From January through August, 1,308,368 units were licensed, compared to 1,422,126 in the same period last year.

Fenabrave started in July to release separate data about electrified vehicles. This year, the number of electrified automobiles and light commercial vehicles has already reached 27,850 units. Only in August, 4.2 thousand of these vehicles were licensed.

“We are monitoring the performance of the electrified segment, which is gaining space in the Brazilian market, even though with a still low market share”, said Andreta Jr.
