The Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) released the list of manufacturers that joined the Federal Government program to incentive cheaper cars launched on June 5. Nine manufacturers are enrolled, offering 233 versions of 31 models.

The manufacturers are Renault, Volkswagen, Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan, Honda, GM, Fiat and Peugeot. The last two are part of the Stellantis group, which has other brands, including Jeep and Citroën.

“The list is dynamic. The manufacturers can include other models at any time since they communicate it to the Ministry”, informs the note. All the manufacturers initially asked for all the resources allowed when joining the program, R$ 10 million for each.

Six of them – Volkswagen, GM, Fiat, Peugeot and Renault – have already asked for an additional R$ 10 million credit. “The total of R$ 150 million, including the additional credits already asked, represents 30% of the R$ 500 million ceiling that can be used as a tax credit to sell more affordable cars”, says the MDIC.

Anfavea’s president, Márcio de Lima Leite, once more this Wednesday, 6/14, that the initial R$ 500 million credit line should be enough for just one month and not the four the program previews. “Half of the 155 thousand cars in inventory fit in the program”, remembered the executive.

The discounts sponsored by the government for cars up to R$ 120 thousand vary from R$ 2 thousand to R$ 8 thousand and can be higher with additional benefits offered by manufacturers and dealers. The value of the discounts considers three criteria: lower price, energy efficiency and national content.

Trucks and Buses

For heavy vehicles, the MDIC informed the program of credit for the truck fleet renovation was joined by ten manufacturers totaling R$ 100 million, 14% of the R$ 700 million tax credit for these vehicles.

Nine bus manufacturers joined the program with a total of R$ 90 million, 30% of the available R$ 300 million for these vehicles. The heavy manufacturers joining the program are:

Trucks: Volkswagen Truck, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Fiat Chrysler, Peugeot Citroen, Volvo, Ford, Iveco, Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans and Daf Caminhões.

Buses: Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Fiat Chrysler, Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans, Comil, Ciferal, Marcopolo, Volare and Iveco.
