The electric vehicle price war is generating numbers and moves increasingly interesting for Brazilian consumers. JAC Motors announced on Monday, 8/14, a reduction from 3% to 9% in its electric automobiles and light commercial vehicles.

The new values are already being practiced. The brand’s cheaper electric, the E-JS1, now costs R$ 135,900, R$ 4 thousand less.

Nonetheless, the E-JS1 is not the most affordable electric in Brazil: Caoa Chery’s iCar, after a second price cut in less than one month, is costing R$ 119.990.

JAC’s new prices are not promotional, according to the company, which explains them by the larger product offer and the lower dollar rate.

“The Chinese market is extremely warm for 100% electric cars, and it enabled JAC Motors to increase production and scale economy, ensuring a price reduction. This is what we are applying to the cars’ final prices, added to the dollar rate fall”, asserts Sergio Habib, SHC Group and JAC Motors Brasil’s president.

JAC vehicles do not offer optional equipment, just metallic paint (R$ 1,990) and leather seats for the E-JS1, also for R$ 1,990.

JAC new prices

· E-JS1                            R$ 135.900,00
· E-JS1 EXT                   R$ 150.900,00
· E-JS1 CITY CARGO  R$ 145.900,00
· E-JS4                           R$ 229.900,00
· E-J7                              R$ 234.900,00
· iEV330P                      R$ 334.900,00

Despite the competitor brands’ denial, the fight to offer Brazil’s most affordable electric was boosted at the end of June, when BYD announced the Dolphin for R$ 150 thousand.

Following suit, GWM announced that it would begin selling its Ora 03 for similar prices. Last week, Renault reduced the Kwid E-Tech price to R$ 139,990.

In July, 7.4 thousand electrified vehicles were sold in Brazil – 900 of them full-electric – a 137% growth over the same month in 2022.

In the first seven months, 39.7 thousand electrified and 4.7 thousand full-electric were sold. This year’s figures are already closing last year’s total: 40.8 thousand electrified and 8.4 thousand pure electric.
