The motorcycle market reacted in August and kept growth year-to-date. 142.7 thousand units were licensed last month, 16% more than in July (123 thousand) and 20.4% over August last year (118.5 thousand).
Year-to-date, 1,045,494 motorcycles were sold, 21.2% over the first eight months of 2022.
Fenabrave released the month’s balance this Monday, 9/4, and attributed the positive performance to motorcycles’ importance for personal transportation and professional use, as in deliveries. Nonetheless, the organization said the segment is also affected by a lack of financing.
For this reason, consortiums are prevailing as a way to purchase. According to Abac, the Brazilian association of consortium management companies, from January through July, there were 2.7 million active participants, and 750 thousand quotes were commercialized.
“The customer is looking for credit options to buy motorcycles, especially up to 250 cm³, and the consortium is a consolidated option. Besides this, we noticed a good cash sales participation, ” said Fenabrave’s president José Maurício Andreta Jr.
Electric motorcycle sales had a slight reduction in August, but the yearly figures remained positive. “Until August, there were 5,808 registers. This number is still low but is maintaining a growth trend”, said the president of the association of vehicle dealers in the country.
