The federal government published last week Decree nº 11.276/2022, which establishes norms for the rules of the Renovar -Road Fleet Productive Enhancement Program. It foresees the publication of a norm, finally establishing the program’s start in up to 120 days.

Anfavea celebrated the publications, informing the organizations and others involved in the decree that they will be able now to start elaborating an application to allow truck drivers to participate in the Renovar, a program aiming to take out of circulation vehicles that do not meet ridding technical parameters or were produced more than 30 years ago.

All this process began in April when was published the Provisory Measure nº 1.112/2022 approved in August by the National Congress. The law nº 14.440/2022, from September, officialized the program that will benefit owners of trucks, road implements, buses, microbuses, vans and cargo vans willing to replace their old vehicles with newer ones.

According to Anfavea, it shall help especially autonomous drivers, who own the oldest vehicles. The objective is to improve road safety and reduce emissions in the environment. Data from the National Traffic Secretariat, an organ of the Infrastructure Ministry, show that more than 3.5 million trucks are circulating in Brazil, 26% of them – 910 thousand units – are more than 30 years old.
