Two important Brazilian automotive industry executives — Rafael Chang, Toyota do Brasil’s CEO, and Oswaldo Ramos, GWM Motors’ CEO —, will speak about the sector’s strategy for electrification in the country at the 12th SAE Brasil’s Symposium of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles. The event begins on June 13 at the AMCHAM Business Center, in São Paulo.

“The technology transition in the automotive sector is intensifying globally aiming for neutral CO2 and, in Brazil, it is discussed how to join this movement. That’s what motivated us to promote a high-level debate at this 12th Symposium”, said Gustavo Gioria, the event’s CEO.

Among the discussions should stand out Brazil’s role and the national automotive sector strategies in the world sustainable transportation trend panorama, as well as initiatives to make batteries for electric mobility in the country and the local production of lithium-ion batteries. The development of components and systems and the electrification of cargo and passenger transportation will also be debated.

The opening speech will be made by two General Motors do Brasil executives: Elbi Sibineli Kremer, general director of Product Engineering, Programs Management and Portfolio Planning, and Marcos da Graça Paiva, Quality, OpEx and EV general director. The theme will be “The future of mobility and Brazil’s role in the electrification journey”.

The debate with Toyota’s and GWM’s CEOs will be mediated by Ricardo Bacellar, SAE Brasil’s Communication and Marketing counselor. Sérgio Eduardo Abud Filho, 3M’s Latam Application specialist, will talk about the company’s technologies for light vehicles.
