Fiat’s much-awaited large pickup will be called Titano, the Italian brand informed this Friday, 5/12. The model will dispute the D pickup segment, competing with traditional products such as the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi L200 and Chevrolet S10.

It will be the first vehicle this size of the brand, which leads the pickup market in Brazil with the Strada and Toro. Unlike its smaller siblings, the Titano will be built over a chassis, as the main competitors that can haul around one ton.

So far, Stellantis showed in a video the new vehicle’s silhouette and its name, applied on the cargo bay door. It is scheduled to reach the market during the second semester. Fiat does not inform a date.

The Titano is a version of the Peugeot LandTrek, created in China and offered in diverse markets with diesel engine options.

MARKET LEADERSHIP

The arrival of one more pickup emphasizes Stellantis’ interest in the light commercial vehicle segment, which also includes passenger and cargo vans and that, in the last few years, has grown many times over the light vehicle market average.

With five brands sold in Brazil – Fiat, Peugeot, Citroën, Ram and Jeep – Stellantis sales reached 47.5% of the market, much ahead of the runner-up General Motors with a 13.2% share in the first four months, even reinforced by the launch of the Chevrolet Montana.

Considering only the pickups, offered by two of the five brands, Stellantis’ share keeps at the same level, near 46%. The Fiat Strada by itself, Brazil’s best-selling vehicle in 2021 and 2022 and this year’s first quadrimester, sold 29% of the pickups negotiated in the country.
