Renault and Valeo will develop the French group’s electric and electronic vehicle architecture jointly. The SDV, Software Defined Vehicle architecture, will enable updating and adding functionalities over the vehicle lifespan without any software change.

Valeo will supply the main electric and electronic components, including the HPC – High-Performance Computer – responsible for the vehicle’s drive strategies, central control and driver assistance systems components, such as ultrasonic sensors and driving and parking cameras.

“Valeo’s arrival at our technology ecosystem is an important step towards the joint construction of our Software Defined Vehicle and to offer technically advanced and competitive vehicles regarding cost and development time”, says François Provost, Renault Group’s Purchases and Partnerships director. The French group also has agreements with Google and Qualcomm for the same project.
